Don’t be fooled by the word engineered though because you’ll still be getting real, authentic hardwood flooring. Engineered hardwood is a modern advancement in hardwood flooring technology. Engineered hardwood planks are constructed with a layer of natural hardwood on top and a reinforcement of premium-quality plywood or high density fiberboard (HDF) underneath. The reinforcement helps to strengthen the planks and is installed in a perpendicular fashion in order to reduce expansion and contraction that naturally occurs with hardwood planks.

Plus, you’ll save money compared to the cost of solid hardwood flooring and still keep the benefit of being able to refinish your engineered hardwood flooring to keep it looking in its prime for many years to come!

Please note that if your flooring needs include installation in high-moisture areas such as a bathroom or basement, hardwood flooring is not recommended. Please read about our waterproof plank options for these areas. Also, you may be surprised to find that waterproof plank offers impressively realistic woodgrain designs!
